SEVEN DAYS REMAIN -
Reviewed by Karen Seidl, Artist Relations
"The Complete Anthology" is a jewel within the hidden treasure called SEVEN DA YS REMAIN .The Minneapolis based band consists of Donny Harvey- vocals/guitar, Jeramy Cain- guitar, Hans Martenson- bass, and drummer extroadinaire Royce Rock.
This album is absolutely hypnotic. Donny Harvey is incredible. His talent is obvious. dreamy, sexy, and soothing and his range is impressive.
His voice is rich,
The guitar sound is complex and full of depth. The execution is beyond precise: it's impeccable. Not only are Donny and Jeramy Cain completely in synch with each other, but the whole band truly operates as one unit- a well 'built ship harmoniously riding the ebb and flow of the sea.
Hans Martenson ' s bass playing brilliantly creates the bottom end of the full sound this band exudes. Sometimes overlooked as the least intricate or least personalized of instruments, the bass in THIS band, is an essential contribution to the big picture. Martenson gives bassists something to aspire to. His melodic riffs weave their tapestry together .
Royce Rock. The name says it all. This guy abso-frickin-lutely ROCKS!!! from this powerhouse.
Let's hope for some drum solos
Look for the subtle background noises on the alburn- a barking dog, an airplane, and other surprises. These guys have truly created their own language in sound. Though "heavier" than a lot of music on the charts right now, SEVEN DAYS REMAIN "The Complete Anthology" is a definite "must have".
Be sure to check them out live, as well. It is an amazing experience to actually see the way their bodies flow together as they hit each note. Their non-verbal communication is entertaining and inspirational. The members of this band obviously have great relations with one another. They are dedicated and committed to their music and it shows.
The fans couldn't sit still at a recent gig at Urban Wildlife in downtown Minneapolis this month.
Though not typical "dance" music, their sound calls your body to move. The energy created by the band and the fans really lit this small venue on fIre. Look for them at the Cabooze in November.
Live or on your home sound system, Seven Days Remain and their "The Complete Anthology" are truly all- encompassing musical experiences. I will definitely indulge in the fruit of this band again and again.
