Artist description
Our lyrics are conscious and true, inspired by great emcees like KRS-ONE, Chuck D, Rakim, Kane and Poor Righteous Teachers. We consider ourselves positive emcees despite our willingness to deal with topical issues that can be controversial and sometimes even offend. We do not purposely go out of our way though, to shock anyone by using profanity or by trying to be gross and rude. However, depending on the mood, you never know. We are all about the freedom of creativity and encourage art above all. Whether it is a group effort or solo, we write songs not just lyrics. Songs that mean something and inspire emotions that will hopefully reach above and beyond any one particular age group or fan-base. The goal of each for us is to see Hip-Hop and its audience progress creatively and socially.

Artist History
The NeighborHood Associates met and became friends in 1992 while studying art at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. They were all from various regions and each had been involved in music with their own respective groups. Illus, originally known as Ad-One was from Connecticut, K the Scrybe hailed from St. Tomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Lyrical Beast was a native of Queens, NY. AT the time there were several other members including, Larry Miller aka. Mill from the Atom Ants out of Chicago, and Henry Keller aka Life from the Urban Nomads also out of Queens, NY.
Deciding to ban together while away from home in hopes of making a name for themselves they formed the NeighborHood Associates. They recorded over ten tracks in the first year they were together and were planning on releasing an independent album on their own label. However the group made a conscious decision to focus on school first and establish their independent artistic careers.
Now after almost ten years away from the mic the group has matured and grown and is ready to rip shit the right way. Stay tuned, for the story is only really beginning now.
