Artist History
Matthew Smith began dabbling in songwriting back in 1993. After being introduced to folk music, he stopped using the distortion pedal as a cover and stripped down to acoustic guitar, forming a band called "liquid ice". They began as a duo, and ultimatly expanded to a five piece, featuring 3 singer/songwriters, 3 part harmonies, and a slamming rhythm section. After the band dissolved in 1998, Matthew dove into his songwriting head first, and two years later resurfaced into the Altanta open mic scene as a solo artist. In the spring of 2001, he released his first CD entitled "A Progression of Sorts" which focuses on the ways that modern rock and pop can survive in an acoustic environment.
