Artist History
Josh grew up in Coolville, Oh. and evenetually migrated to Parkersburg, WV. He has been playing guitar since he was around ten years old.
His original influence was Leo Kottke and then shifted to John Fahey and then on to Doc Watson, to Roy Book Binder and so on ... "Those
of course are just the guitar players I like..., At one point in my life I wanted to be Merle Hagard!"
Josh, being self taught, has a very distinctive sound. He relies heavily on his Taylor LKSM 12-string Guitars. He tunes his 12-strings well
below concert pitch, usually one and a half to two whole steps. It gives him that unique throaty sound reminiscent of Kottke. Of course, all
of Josh's shows are varied. He always has at least two guitars a six and twelve string guitar and an anything but predictable choice in vocals.
His material includes covers as well as many original compositions. |
