Artist description Georgia Barretto can be found performing through Utah in some of the area's best jazz clubs, restaurants and locally sponsored shows. A native of Brazil, Georgia's style is uniquely her own, influenced by her upbringing and culture. Georgia's style is evident in her slower, story-telling ballads of love and life as well as in funky dance tunes in which she performs the rhythms of contemporary Brazilian music.

Artist History Georgia has performed live on radio station KPFK in Los Angeles and been interviewed by Sergio Melkchienko, host of a program about contemporary Brazilian music. She also performs regularly at a Brazilian club in Salt Lake City, Utah, as well as in some of the best jazz and blues clubs in the area. Georgia has also been featured in locally sponsored music events in her community. Georgia Barretto was born in 1969 to a musical and artistic family in Sao Paul, Brazil. Her father taught her classical guitar and her mother taught her to play popular styles. Her mother even taught her own method of guitar lessons in a popular course on television, sponsored by a Brazilian guitar manufacturer. By eleven years old she was playing difficult classical guitar music and composing music of her own. Her vocal style will be familiar to fans of bossa nova and samba. She has spent time performing in some of the finest hotels in Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia and in shows at the Ilha Porchat Club in Santos, Sao Paulo. She came traveled to Los Angeles from Brazil as a student of psychology in 1991. She continued with her music, however, and was a regular in a weekly show at Kafe Kafka, a European restaurant in Hollywood. She now lives in Ogden with her two young daughters. Georgia received an award for her classical guitar playing at the Weber State University ASTA (American String Teachers Association) competition last year. Her parents, Paulo and Dalva, are now living in Ogden as well . She often appears with them and they also will be performing on a CD she is currently scheduled to record.
