Artist History
GAWD was initially formed by Paul Elliott in Hemet California on October 31, 1992. Metal fans were immediately drawn to the sound and fury that GAWD exhibited while playing. It was during their first headline show at the Simpson Center in Hemet that their fan’s proved they too could create a fury to match that of GAWD. The crowd grew more and more impatient, chanting the name GAWD over and over while the opening bands attempted to perform. This impatience quickly turned into a riot after the third band started their performances and still no GAWD. The show was promptly cancelled. Though disappointed that they didn’t play that night, the band soon realized that it was a great career move, more and more people were asking the question: Who is GAWD?
Discouragement set in with Paul as he watched the trappings of success begin to consume the members of GAWD in the form of drug and alcohol abuse. It was at this time that Paul called upon long time friend and former Feedback guitarist Robert Sanchez to step in and help him rebuild the momentum that GAWD had created. After several auditions for a new drummer and bassist, drummer Jerry Mitchell and bassist Wayne Moore fit the style and direction that GAWD needed to move to the next level.
They were quickly booked with bands such as Testament, Dio, Pantera, Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer and many, many more. They have been in studio guests at several major radio stations, including their own KUCR, KLOS, and KCAL.
GAWD continues field many tour offers while in the process of seeking a new label.
