The Bio
The long complicated story............
The band was formed in June 1999. It was to be Tom on vocals, Brian and Jenn on guitar, and Ben
Epitomie on bass. Shortly after this Jenn got in a car accident and broke her wrist, so it was just Brian. All that was needed was a drummer. Brian knew
JP if he would play drums so they finally had a full band. The problem with this was that Ben had to devote time to
The Epitomies/ Lost Cause {you should have that be an actual link} and he lived in Haverhill
so getting to practice was trouble. So practice started with the lack of a bassist so getting started was a bit
hard. At the time Steve lived with JP so he was always at practice. Tom asked JP if he knew anyone who could play
bass so Steve joined. The irony of this is that three months prior before Tom and Steve met, Tom sent an e-mail to Steve
about starting a band and Steve never responded. After a few practices Tom decided to switch to bass so Steve switched to
vocals. After messing around with names for a while JP and Steve decided they needed to settle on a bandname. While looking
at records they picked out the name Criminal Youth. Unbenounced to JP and Steve, this was what Tom and Brian were going to
originally name the band. At the end of the summer, Brian, living far away in Blackstone had more and more trouble getting up
since he was tied up in work and his other band, Suspended Sentence, who he sings for. Steve would fill in on guitar when he
wasn't there, but after a month of this, it was never formally made that he was out of the band but he had pretty much lost
interest. So Steve took over on guitar. It was decided we needed a second guitarist to fill the void Brian left. We also were
looking for a permanent vocalist. JP asked John Curran and he practiced with us a few times but ended up moving to
Providence. At this point we picked up Steve Quix on vocals, who has been reliable except for getting sick every two weeks.
We were still looking for a second guitarist at this point and someone told Raging Rick and we talked to him and he decided
to not take the offer. So we finally had a permanent line up. We scrapped most of our stuff from the summer and pretty
much started anew. Then in February of 2000 we picked up Jay from Mortarblast on second guitar. This is the current line up
which we intend on keeping for a while..............
