Artist History
A Place Apart is a constant evolution, a strange mix of preppie-kid emo and hardcore, born from an early taste in ska and pop punk, complete with jazzy off-times and vocals that alternatingly coo, soar, wretch and scream. A Place Apart began in 1999 with the dream of starting a horns-free ska band under their original name of No Outlet. After numerous ska shows, an entirely new rhythm section and a painful metamorphosis into a more developed, harder sound, Raf, Cassie, Matt, Kri and Adam arrived at A Place Apart’s current state. To the jaded and increasingly wussy and commercial emo scene, A Place Apart offer something no other emo band out there can: punk chicks with the chops to back up their good looks, balanced out by the three sweatiest and musically talented guys out there. With a catalog of crappy punk home recordings, A Place Apart exploded with their new sound full-throttle on the ripping forthcoming LP titled Plan B. The band is ready to go, desiring nothing more than to take their unique brand of hardcore post-punk on the road to the empty bars of the Midwest this spring and summer. |
