    Artist History
Wish Upon A Star Bio by Tommy Rehbein Wish Upon A Star started in the summer of 1999. I was living @ SE 101 w/ John Warne and other various people. That summer was a pretty bad one. A couple people that I grew up w/ in Forest Lake were killed in a bad car accident. Chad and Dusty. A lot of time was spent w/ friends and it was hard watching everyone go through this. Many evenings were spent playing the guitar and writing songs. Anything to keep my spirits up. Mike Cunningham would always come over and hang out w/ me, as he still does. We knew each other from playing in Suburban Core - a cheesy, but fun pop-punk band. Anyway, John would always assist me while i was writing songs. Pretty soon he knew all of the songs I'd written. Mike one day said, "You should call Warner and go record that stuff!" I was hesitant at first, but was eventually convinced to do so. We recorded a demo at Jon Warner's place. It landed us on a comp. and we got a lot of good responses from people. On the demo, it was me, Mike, and John playing everything. Soon after, John's band Ace Troubleshooter got signed and he became extremely busy w/ that. Mike got bogged down w/ school and work. We could've hung it up there, but i decided to keep doing it. I missed being in a band and how good it felt to play in front of people and to create. I contacted Jeremy Andersen, a long-time friend. With Jeremy, we began writing new material that wasn't so punk rock. So yup, Jer and I jammed many nights in my mom's basement, crafting new songs. We recorded a couple songs @ music tech w/ Tom Ciccone, who was a student there at the time. He needed guineau pig bands and we thought it'd be fun. It turned out pretty well and then we went back later and recorded a few more songs w/ Ryan Peterson on bass. Ryan also sang some. We'd been trying out bass players but no one was quite what we were looking for. Then one day Tom called and asked if he could try out. He did and the chemistry was there. So that's when Tom hopped aboard. Eventually, we thought it'd be better if we were a 4 piece, so we asked Ryan Peterson to play guitar. His band had broken up and he already knew our songs. Plus he's a cool guy. So, he played with us for quite a while. Eventually, his band (now called Back in the Day) got back together and it got too hectic trying to be in 2 bands for him. We told him to do his band 'cuz that was his baby and there'd be no hard feelings. Well, by that time we got so used to being a 4 piece that we needed to find a new guitarist. Jer said he had a friend named Adam who really liked the band and wanted to give it a shot. I'd seen Adam around but never really knew him 'cuz he's quite shy. Well, he turned out to be a really cool person and a very good guitarist. By this time, Jeremy Woods had been coming to practices. You see, all the while we (Me, Tom, Jer, and Ryan) had recorded an album. We had a cd release party in the works. There were a number of songs on the cd that had keyboard parts on them, so we thought it'd be cool to get someone to play keyboard at some shows, especially the big release show. By the time The CD release show came around, Woods had played a numer of other shows w/ us and had become a full-fledged member of the band. Eventually, Jeremy Andersen got a good promotion at work and was able to finance a house w/ his wife, Mel. He decided that he wanted to leave the band and purse a family life. We wished him luck and the night he announced his leaving, we all went to Kieran's and had a beer w/ him. It was a friendly departure. I'd read a post on the Foxfire board about someone named Sid who'd be in the USA and was looking for people to jam with. SO i got in touch with him and he ended up working out pretty well. Sid's from Austria and he's trying to get things worked out to stay here. Well, Adam found out that he had a baby on the way w/ his fiance, so he felt that he needed to leave the band. He's focusing on a career and getting life situated for marriage and all that good stuff. Adam's departure was on good terms, too. He's been working on some solo acoustic stuff. What he's played me is pretty good, so when he's ready, i think Tom and I are gonna help him record it. Tom recording, me on drums... Something like that. Well, this brings us to the 2nd Ryan to be in our band, Ryan Tenjack. He have a history of getting repeat names in this band: Ryan, Tom, Jeremy... Ryan had filled in on the bass in our early 3-piece days when Tom couldn't make a show. I'd also helped out Ryan's old band, The Rent-a-Friends, on a frequent basis. Well, yup, Ryan's now playing guitar for us and it's working out rather nicely. That's the story so far...
