Shining Force - Holy Nation (2001)
Classic metal fans have lamented the fact that classic metal has not regained the popularity that other styles of metal have in the Christian scene.
This group of Texans delivers some badly needed classic metal with a Christian message. The band, made up of Billy Vaughn on Rhythm and Lead Guitars, John Daniels on Drums. Jose Chavez on Bass, Randy Dickey on Lead Vocals and Daniel Breeden on Rhythm and Lead Guitars, provides listeners with some metal staples - the hooks, the crunch, the solos and clean vocals. The two guitar attack handles the fast paced nature of the music and provides the guitar crunch that classic metal is famous for.
They are not as mushy as on other independent releases. This is refreshing and adds a lot to the metal attack. Lyrically the band is very straightforward about who they sing about. Christ is the center of this band and they are not afraid to let people know about Him. Shining Force are very evangelistic but do not sacrifice lyrics for evangelism. They write a lot about the why people need Christ and salvation. They dont pound people over the head with the Gospel but make an intelligent case for Christ. Songs on the cd include Shining Force, Take Authority, Sign of the Times, Precious Holy Spirit, Holy Nation, Apocalypse, Only Believe, The Blood, Bow Down, Moving on to Zion and The Holy One.
