Artist History
The band came together in 1979 when guitarist Don Story returned to the USA after living in the Middle East for a few years (where rock and roll was not allowed!).
The other 4 guys had been bashing away in guitarist Randy Fuelle's garage/recording studio just to have fun and develop tinnitus. When Don came to a jam, the idea of working up a set and playing in public took hold.
The band debuted on New Year's Eve of 1979, opening for The Penetrators at San Diego's now-defunct Roxy Theatre. If nothing else, they were LOUD! Land Piranha played San Diego dives and theatres until November 1981, when
Don Story left to join Claude Coma's I.V.'s. |

Opening act was Land Piranha, and although their sound was muddled, they deserve praise for their choice of material, ranging from Paul Revere and the Raiders' "Just Like Me" to the Stooges' "Search and Destroy". |
