Artist description
Inward Elusion is a 3-piece band that plays music similar in style to the 90s alternative scene combined with the style of modern pop rock. What sets us apart is our dedication to using complicated poetic lyrics with catchy and emotionally driven melodies. We take great care in constructing our melodies and lyrics to fit this mold. It is our commitment of taking music as a serious art form that prompts us to label our music as “art rock”.
The band was created in February of 2001 with Bryan Stuckey on lead guitar and vocals, Jonathon Owens on bass, and Mike Delgros on drums. After a couple of months of rehearsing together, we scheduled time at a recording studio to professionally record a demo CD. We were set to record on July 15, 2001, but we needed a name for the band first. Many names were thought up such as “Quote Unquote”, “Indecision”, “The Rubber Knife Gang”, “Archaic”, and “Exeunt”.
Finally, one name was decided upon, “Inward Elusion.”
The name Inward Elusion has a couple of meanings. First, it means to elude inward or escape within one self. This obviously refers to how many artists, including ourselves, portray their art - how it comes from the heart. Secondly, since the members of Inward Elusion are influenced by Christian beliefs, the “escape within one self” philosophy refers to the act of prayer.
So, with a name for the band, we recorded a six-song demo CD at Mike Reed’s studio in about eight hours. Included on the demo CD are “Stress”, “Something Somewhere”, “Apart”, “Sleepless Meaning”, “The Elegy”, and “Psalm 199”. Soon thereafter, Bryan purchased the inwardelusion.com web domain and Jonathon created a web site for the band with the help of Bryan. On the web site, viewers and listeners can download mp3 clips of the songs on the demo CD as well as look at lyrics, biographies, and pictures.
With an increasing song repertoire, Inward Elusion is ready to set out to share their music with the rest of the world.
