Artist History
Formed in early spring of 2001 from Buffalo, NY, Holy Angels was a band
waiting to happen. "With a guitarist, bassist and a drummer all living under
one roof, it was just a matter of time before we starting playing together"
says guitarist Scott Sprigg. The guys added a 2nd guitarist and were working
harder at writing songs than an underage kid working for Kathie Lee. A few
weeks later Scott ran into good friend and former front man of the
Louisville, Kentucky band The Enkindles (Initial Records). After many years of
blood, sweat, and tears, The Enkindels disbanded and Mark relocated to
Toronto, Ontario. Since Scott's band Buried Alive (Victory Records) decided
to throw in the towel as well, they decided to combine their love for Rock
and Roll and solidify the lineup which is now the Holy Angels.
With high expectations to live up to, Holy Angels decided it was time to
record. The Angels found a home at Select Sound. Engineered by Chris Nagy,
Holy Angels recorded 4 songs which best represents their unique punk style in
the vein of rock & roll. Previously the band released a 3 song demo amply
titled "600 Mile Circle" (The distance between Louisville, Buffalo, &
Toronto) which quickly became a staple in the Buffalo punk / emo community.
While the demo remains a hot buy at the Holy Angels shows, the real treat is
in their live show. Mark Brickey can work a crowd like no one else and that's
why he hosts Krazy Fest ever year.
The band has been blessed with the opportunity to support such national acts
as Alkaline Trio, Dashboard Confessional, Fenix TX, Unwritten Law, Hot Water
Music, Mest, Snapcase, Sugarcult, The Starting Line, Avail, Brand New, Grade,
Boy Sets Fire & many more including the Warped Tour, Krazy Fest, & Hell Fest
festivals. The opportunities on these shows have been great for the band to
make lots of new fans and friends. The band prides itself on its
relationship with the entire crowd and involvement in the surrounding scene.
In December of 2001, they booked their first annual Toys For Tots benefit
raising over 1000 toys for a great local charity. Local heroes and friends
Snapcase (Victory Records) were eager to help them out and headline the
event. Gaining attention from the scene by hitting the road doing small
weekend tours, they eagerly anticipate the opportunity to take the songs on
the road to support a future release in their new van. (Especially since
their first van died 45 minutes after its first road trip ever to play Krazy
Fest!) Keep your eyes and ears open for Holy Angels with their unique blend
of rock as they plan on keeping up their non stop, rock & roll work ethic.
