Artist description
Zane is one of the greatest Psychohillbilly Musicians in the world. The Campbell family is steeped in the US country music history. His aunt Ola Belle Reed wrote "High On the Mountain," a country hillbilly classic if ever there was one. On the other side of his family, his great uncle, Guy Brooks, wrote and recorded the first country car wreck song, "Wreck on the Mountain Road" (1928). R. Crumb did a portrait of Guy Brooks and his band, The Red Fox Chasers, in his Pioneers of Country Music card set.
Zane is best known for his song "Postmortem bar" from the motion picture "Longtime Companion" (1990), the first American motion picture about AIDS. |
