Artist History
Back in 1977 the MOJO BLUESBAND was formed in Vienna/Austria with the aim to revive the 40s and 50s Chicago Blues style. The name "Mojo" derives from an old JB Lenoir record ("Mojo Boogie") and is a synonym for a kind of good luck charm. The first LP "Shake That Boogie" was recorded in 1978 for a Swiss record company. In the following years the band was able to build up a reputation as one of Europe's leading Blues Bands and also as much demanded accompanists of Blues Legends such as Johnny Shines, JB Hutto, Eddie Clearwater, Sunnyland Slim, Louisiana Red, Lowell Fulson, Champion Jack Dupree, Big Jay McNeely, AC. Reed, Little Willie Littlefield, Katie Webster, Hal Singer, Leon Thomas, Red Holloway, Bob Gaddy, Larry Dale, Jimmy McCracklin, Nappy Brown and many others.
Blues is not only a style of music, but also an expression of life-style. That is the opinion of Erik Trauner, the founder of the band. "Devil’s Music" had its impact on young Erik and stayed with him ever since.
The MBB is entirely dedicated to the music they play. ET says, "Its all about trying to develop your own handwriting. There is no room for Jiving. The older we get, the better we are!"
