    Artist History
INFRARED has emerged on the music scene bringing their own brand of organic machine driven music. Hailing from Chicago, IL Infrared was formed in 1998 when brothers Mike and Tony Maro teamed up with guitarist Dave Barrios and singer Scott Groboski. The band has since cultivated an underground following in the Chicagoland area. It is their powerful and intense live shows which have lead to their experimental approach toward heavy music and their loyal following. The band abides by their rule that the music should cause the listener to feel something; to react to what the music and visuals say to them. After recording their first release Not Myself Today in the spring of 2000 (the band financed their own demo album), the band said, “This album was our way to show our fans that we can pull off the intense live shows in the studio". This meant that the album would be on a platform where all the band members could express their musical influences, no matter how varied. The album is already subject to growing critical acclaim. Stemming from this recording, the band has teamed up with Grammy-award winning producer Neil Kernon and has begun fine tuning their songs and developing their own, unique sound and feel. Stylistically, Infrared features an array of melodies and riffs, all delivered with the intenseness that defines the group’s live shows and perspective on what music should be. Groboski’s lyrics detail ups and downs of human experience. From the hammering “STP” (Standard Thought Process) to the dance driven “Falling in Line”, and the powerful charge of “180”, the album shows off the bands' diversity. The material on this album represents what Infrared really is and how the four can come together to get a sound that pushes the band and the listener beyond anything describable.
