DIVINE SOULS - Embodiment / Scarlet Records
"These guys are coming from Sweden and in their debut album (after 5 demos !!) they are playing new wave of Swedish death metal very strongly influenced by bands such as In Flames.
Their melodic death metal is excellent (though it is not that extreme as this of In Flames) and the semi brutal voice fits perfectly with the music. Among their other influences someone will also find Slayer and Dark Angel along with some Bay Area thrash metal bands.
An interesting mix and a very good result. They manage to retain the melodic style of their music and yet they also manage to retain the extremity in their music.
There are very few bands who can achieve this combination successfully and effectively.
The guitar leads and the melodies are excellent, the singer is killer and the rhythm section has enough technical skills as to not just keep everything in place, but also add it's own piece in the technical excellence of the album.
The production is OK, but yet it is not perfect. I am sure a better production would benefit the album a lot. But even as it is it's a good choice for new wave of Swedish death metal fans."
