Artist description
"Great melodic song craft and memorable choruses," deepwaterdaZe "has the chops, the hooks, the songs and the voice to go very far." (M. Picardo, Freetime Magazine)

With a name representing both the times and a state of mind, deepwaterdaZe remedies a world infected by superficial pop and hardcore pain-rock with an antidote that is long overdue. Hear the new self-produced single "Before The Dawn" (enclosed/available FREE upon request). Bob Wiltse's richly textured vocals stream effortlessly over Dave Mabelis' cascading guitar mastery. Add talented newcomers Dave Hermans on bass and Ian Macdonald on drums, and deepwaterdaZe releases a flood of moody, rocked-out music that breaks the levee and makes everyone want to jump in and get wet!

deepwaterdaZe lyrics are impressionistic and thought provoking. The music is innovative while also honoring far-ranging influences -- from Radiohead to The Black Crowes, Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix (among many others). The band's various demo releases have offered just a sketch from a prolific and eclectic song gallery.

LIVE, deepwaterdaZe is intoxicating. Soaked in talent and dripping with charisma, they are equally at home performing as a full band or as a stripped-down acoustic duo. Their emotive songs erupt with raw precision, polished but unprocessed.

Artist History
deepwaterdaZe was formed by Bob Wiltse and Dave Mabelis, who fronted Ethel as lead vocalist and lead guitarist in the late nineties. They also appeared in interviews and performed LIVE ON RADIO AND TV in their hometown of Rochester, New York (radio: 96.5WCMF's Brother Wease Morning Circus, 106.7WMAX's Live @ Studio 7 and Morning Show, and 89.7WITR's Rochester Sessions; TV: Channel 9 R-News' Entertainment Weekly). They won The WMAX Best Band in Rochester Contest, had airplay on 90.5WBER, WCMF, WITR, and 88.5WRUR, and were in REGULAR ROTATION on WMAX.

After showcasing for major and subsidiary labels in New York City and Philadelphia, they considered several offers, but the band broke up before a deal was signed.

Now, forty songs and three basements later, deepwaterdaZe has surfaced! Already attracting an impressive following regionally and on the Internet, they have also made important inroads into the Canadian market. They appeared live in the studio at radio 102.1 The Edge in Toronto as part of The North by Northeast Indie Club and were also very well received at Toronto's Reverb Room.
