    Artist description
How I wanted to be a popstar..... - but I soon realised that my biggest appreciativeaudience was the thirty something's - even though when I started playing serious concerts I was only 18. Now I work in the Christian & Secular music industry in Licensing and Publishing. I still play the odd concert but most of my songs these days are written for people - heard by few, smiled upon by me, loved by my family, tolerated by my friends, and very occasionaly enjoyed by many.
    Music Style
Songs of personal passion and worship - gentle pop sound, piano led, always meaningful.
    Musical Influences
Keith Green, Michael W Smith, Bruce Hornsby, James Taylor
    Artist History
In the summer of 1988 I made a first appearance on stage, fronting a band and singing to a crowd of over 200 - a fantastic and mind-blowing experience for me. I started writing music seriously at 16 and subsequently began to use whatever concerts I could get, to perform my own material. I would sing for any band I could get in to, and spent the following three years playing in all sorts of strange places - all good experience! However, I was led to join 'CANTICLE', a Christian music group committed to working on a semi-professional basis in churches of all sizes, and in schools all over the country. Following this came the release of three songs I had written for 'CANTICLE' on their fifth album - 'THE SECRET'. These were my first commercial recordings of which I was very proud (!) and also grateful to 'CANTICLE' for. After another twelve months of gigging with the band and more concerts than ever with 'CANTICLE' I finally committed myself to a solo EP 'CAST YOUR MIND BACK'. This recording, in memory of my Father, produced a fantastic response - and with it came the encouragement I needed to carry on singing and playing live. In turn, this led to the formation of the 'PETER J WHEELER BAND' - debuting at a home concert to over 250 people! In 1992 I formed REALLY FREE MUSIC with an aim to covering every aspect of music that I became involved in. Thus, in the last 12 years I have played well over 300 concerts, sharing venues with some very well known groups and artists. One of the most enjoyable of these was GREENBELT - emphasising for me the importance of the Christian message in and through my performance. As a company REALLY FREE MUSIC is now a front for my work in independent production, publishing, licensing and soundtracks, as well as continuing to promote the use of musical resources within the church. My aim remains the same - an effective Christian ministry through the use of music. Myself, and the rest of my small team, pride ourselves on providing a complete service no matter what the request. To this end we take a great deal of trouble to listen to what is required. God bless, PETER J WHEELER: REALLY FREE MUSIC
