    Artist History
Signed to Copro Records in 1998, the bands first album 'lo-def(inition) discord' was released to much critical acclaim. This was then followed up in 1999 with the release of their second album 'off-kilter enhancement'. Recorded over 7 days in february 1999, it was produced by Dave Chang (orange goblin, acrimony) and contains 10 tracks. The album demonstrates a marked progression from the bands critically acclaimed debut 'lo-def(inition) discord', simultaneously embracing a greater degree of intensity and harmony. Indeed 'off kilter enhancement' fluidly spans aggression, melancholy and melody while always retaining a strong, cohesive feel. arc' tan' gent is the third album from earthtone9. Produced by Andy Sneap (of Machine Head, Pissing Razors, Skinlab & Kill II This fame) and recorded at Philia Studios, Henley-on-Thames and Backstage, Ripley it demonstrates a marked progression for the critically acclaimed five piece. The expected levels of intensity and emotion are all present and correct but the urgent sense of melody that pervades the 10 tracks creates a broader and more complex soundscape. it sees earthtone9 using melody as a weapon, not a crutch. The british five piece have built upon the solid foundation of their first two albums (off kilter enhancement and lo-def(inition) discord) and expanded on all the elements that comprise their sound. the brutish 'star damage (for beginners)' and 'evil crawling i' demonstrate that et9 have lost none of their charming violent tendencies, but the delicate textures of 'binary 101' and 'walking day' sound more like a muscular Foo Fighters than Fear Factory. The band toured near constantly after the release of "arc' tan' gent" and unfortunatly the pressure of the gruelling tour schedule eventually led to the departure of drummer Si Hutchby in July of 2001. earthtone9 are currently auditioning replacements and have continues to tour in the interim with a number of temporary drummers.
