Artist History the inception... I sit alone dark in the closet where i have stored the computer out of sight... as if being able to see it confirmed a sort of subservience to the thing... perusing the craigslist ads for a band... i as a bassist newly thrust to the bay was desperately in need of one... "dark and fast, gothic, we hide behind the 10 on our amps..." sounds interesting... i email to arrange a meeting... meet at lennon studios, soma sf... i go... arriving at the aptly named studio with the "partridge family painting scheme"... inside i see 2 silhouettes gliding down the hallway... from joshs personal description of himself (i look like a typical san francisco goth/punk)... after such shrewd self-judgment i decide the boy i see before me can only be him... decorated in the usual attire and array of tattoos... it is his childish and unexpected optimism and eagerness that i remember most... andre though not very scary in the face is the size of those pit characters that crack your skull open at the shows... we jam for 3 hours, mostly goof off and talk... stumble through the two songs they had from their previous 2 or 3 practices (today known as "110" and "rising")... there seems to be a definite vibe... halfway through a discussion of future gigs and a non-desire of world domination... josh innocently interrupts to say "wait you do want to be the bass player dont you..."... it is decided to place an ad for a drummer the first night... twas only a few precious practices at lennon until james joins us... characteristically ADD, foul mouthed and cocky as hell of course we fall for the guy... through no formal declaration he kept showing up for practices so we just assumed he wanted to play with us... though not easy to figure out why as he is clearly our technical superior we settle on the fact that we must entertain him in some way... so it went something like that not so long ago and continues to this day... our songwriting is something akin to this... andre a little riff... james a little over the top drummer showing off... josh begins to scream... when the noise settles steev (me...) says "song."... the honeymoon phase of bandom... oh....................... ----- by Steev.
