Artist History
Formerly CCCC were known as the Garden District Thieves with Chris Colepaugh on lead guitar and vocals, Lynn Daigle on bass and Craig Watson on drums. They started out in the summer of 1995 touring Eastern New Brunswick with their new version of blues rock.
New year's 1996 managed to bring about a full length album titled GALAXY recorded entirely by Colepaugh and Daigle. Chris did all drums, vocals, backing vocals, guitar work and the majority of the bass parts. Within two months of recording the album they had set off touring eastern Canada as the newly formed CHRIS COELPAUGH AND THE COSMIC CREW.
After a year and a half of non-stop dates, festivals and road time, CC and the CC won an Eastern Talent Search Contest and recorded and released their second album MAZES AND MIRRORS in the fall of 1997. Recorded by Kevin MacMichael (Cutting Crew & Robert Plant) , the album represented the bands live appeal and reflected the band's plug-in-and-play sound.
During the tour of MAZES AND MIRRORS, CC and the CC decided to start experimenting with their sound and asked their friend Andre LeBlanc to occasionally join them on organ/keys. This led to the group honing their live on-stage jamming skills and winning audeinces with their hours of musical interpretation.
With the band's solid funk grooves, they had captured the magic necessary to bring them to the next level. By August 1999, the trio had realeased their third CD titled 16 SECOND SOLACE. The follow-up tour took them from the Maritimes to Vancouver and down the coast to Los Angeles, California. Upon their return in Febraury 2000, CCCC received a nomination for "BEST ALTERNATIVE ARTIST" at the 2000 East Coast Music Awards in Sydney, Cape Breton.
The year 2000 also brought another tour to the west coast to participate in the New Music West Conference and Festival in Vancouver and a showcase at Canadian Music Week. In the fall, they toured out to the west coast again and returned in time for the Holiday Season.
In 2001, CHRIS COLEPAUGH AND THE COSMIC CREW toured the ECMA's and CMW 2001 and settled in on recording their fourth album trip.
