You Can Be Replaced -- Steve Morrison (Blue Duck)
Sunday, October 03, 1993
By Tony Norman, Post-Gazette Staff Writer -
On his first CD as a solo artist, ex-Affordable Floors guitarist Steve Morrison proves he's not just another pretty face. Planting as many flags in as many pop music camps as he can manage, Morrison has evolved into a local version of Matthew Sweet, tossing off delectable pop songs seemingly at whim. On "Little Fingers," Morrison crunches Replacements-style power chords. On "Where Are You Tonight," he and his band exude Wings at its most Beatlesque ... Morrison's brand of unabashed pop romanticism wields an embarrassment of riches for those who don't blanch at the thought of such things in the post-grunge age. |
