STEGM - Clocked - cassette HOS-47
This was the best surprise I have received in a long time. I have never heard of this artist, but I am going to make sure you all aren't in the dark like I was. The noise on here is excellent! From harsh power electronic type noise to serene whispers of reprieve, before the hostility resumes. This is very moody stuff. The sounds are represented well by the blood red cover, thick and full life. The noise is pure and I would say, there is a little something for everyone with STEGM. This cassette is not long, so I will soon have to purchase another release to comfort me on those long sleepless nights when sheer white noise can't help me drift off to sleep. Contact Hospital Productions for more information about STEGM and other surprises.

STEGM - Clocked (HOSPITAL PROD)
Small tape for this totally unknown for me act on the american noise label Hospital Productions. Stegm plays here two powerful and compact piece of harsh, bass-filled power electronics whose main characteristic is to be instrumental.
The tracks are rather similar, and combine some small experimentation with electronics with a very high dose of saturation and distortion, melting a mayhem of noise into aggressive assaults that can remind of Control's debut album. Stegm's music seems angry, and is dense example of quite well recorded and produced power electronics.
In a way, this small item reminds me of some of the things produced on the Troniks label, for this is really nor ear-friendly but really pleasant for people whose ears have been properly re-educated. Not a lot of things to say, except that this is a nice appetizer, and that these two tracks can be well enjoyed.

stegm clocked (c20 from hospital productions)
i read somewhere that listening to noise is necessarily solitary event. i've tried to make people listen to noise and they usually act like i'm sticking shards of glass under their fingernails, and as much as i enjoy that i guess i'd have to agree, noise is something probably best experienced alone. clocked, however, brings out the nasty streak in me. i want to put headphones on my grandmother and make her listen to this right up close and personal. when it does have a quieter moment it's shattered to pieces just after you've had enough time to get used to it with a blast of loud feedback. kind of a noise cliche i know, but nice nonetheless. on the second side what sounds sort of like meandering AM radio noise is torn into bits by nice chunky feedback like machinery eating itself. harsh stuff that loses nothing in the transition to tape, with either good editing or excellent improvisation, especially on the second side. very nice relatively simple red and black packaging as well.
