Artist History
This is either the story of three young men determined to make their childhood dreams come true, or the sad story of three delusional, young men desperately seeking some kind of redemption for the past nine years of their lives. Jehovah Chang, which consists of Wesley Wolfe, Dan McNally, and Kevin Flack, is a fine example of the Nirvana inspired teens in the early nineties wanting to start a band. Wesley and Dan both got their instruments in late 1992, and they officially became a band in mid 1993 when Kevin got a drum set. So, what have they been doing for the past NINE years? They may not have completely mastered their instruments yet, but they have spent all of this time hard at work, mastering the bands original sound and their intelligent and often introspective song writing ability. I guess you could say they have spent all of this time trying to create their masterpiece. Until recently, however, all they have had to show for it is a mountain of unfinished recordings, hundreds of rejected musical arrangements, a number of brief break-ups, and two unsuccessful attempts at becoming a four-piece. In 1996 they managed to release a tape of four-track recordings under the bands previous name: Fuzzcumber. Out of the sixty copies they made, they managed to sell fifteen copies at three dollars a piece, before their poor management skills took over and they decided to pass the rest out for free. The band took on the name Jehovah Chang in 1998, and since then they have played a handful of shows. Their live show is a testament to the bands ever-growing talent, and audiences are always being left impressed and wanting more. The band is far from being without their character flaws, but we wont get into the dirt, even though there is plenty of it! Presently, Jehovah Chang is about to finish their first album that they have been recording, entirely on their own, over the past year. The band has been actively sending out their six-song demo in an effort to find a label to put out the album. The songs are strong proof that the band has not been wasting all of their time, and that these guys are extremely talented and ready to make their mark. Only time will tell if Jehovah Chang has what it takes to make it, but the bands long history shows that they are full of determination, and that they dont plan on giving up until they are heard. |
