    Artist History
Intorment black originally started in 1997 as a 2 piece band, Jay on guitars and Chris on bass. Under the name of Supremacy, they added James on 2nd guitar and Michael on drums soon after. The Band was then named "Uprising" and went through a few different singers. In 1999 the band, after varied musical influences split into 2 bands, Uprising, and the soon to be named Intorment Black which had Jay on guitar, Chris on bass and Dan on drums. Joss soon joined the band on vocals and Intorment Black started writing new material. Uprising split up into a 1 man band, and James rejoined Intorment Black in 2000. Joss left for a long time due to Uni commitments, planned on rejoining the band but later decided no to due to other commitments. Intorment Black decided to record the vocals themselves, mainly Chris and Dan. The recording is mostly complete and is scheduled to be released sometime soon in the half year. Jay and James appeared on "the dead end" (88.5 monday nights) and advertised for a singer, we decided on the singer. Hence Scott joined the band.

I will start by saying I like this CD quite a lot. The band features two members from Forlorn Suffering and has taken a while for the line up to settle. Over the course of recording there have been five different singers and various other members leaving and joining hte band, resulting in some good variety and ideas, all with a black metal focus, but not total cohesion. After a dark, mysterious intor, there are six tracks and then an outro which features piano, synth and male choir effects. Each song is fairly long and has a raw, gothic feel with an underlying melody with hints of bands such as Darkthrone and Burzum. some songs have death metal leanings and others are more melodic, giving me visions of what The Cure would sound like if they ever delved into this area. The pace of each song is fairly constant and feature raw distorted guitars, many different vocal styles and keyboards here and there. There is great potential here, as the mix is a little dull, expecially the drums, however this is a minor gripe and does add to the mood. -The Dead End http://www.thedeadend.cjb.net 88.5 FM monday nights in Sydney.
