Artist History
Smashing the mold of other melodic hard rock acts, "Hollow" justifies its standing in the music world with powerful musical harmonies, thought-provoking lyrics and groovy hooks throughout their songs.
"Song lyrics should provoke thought, emotion, and illicit a compelling response from the listener", says Jonny Michaels, lead guitarist of Hollow. "It doesn't matter so much what the response is as long as it's not ambivilence".
Lead singer Ryan Raths has been a regular on the Phoenix music scene since he was in high school back in the early nineties with a Jane's Addiction tribute band called "One Too Many". As his musical creativity expanded, Ryan created Hollow and brought on some of the best and brightest musicians in Phoenix. After about three years, Hollow went through a couple of CD recordings and more than a few musicians. In early 2001, Ryan and Jonny met. They became good friends and when Ryan learned that Jonny played the guitar, he asked Jonny to be a guest guitarist at a gig he had over the summer. Jonny had about four weeks to learn the songs and they bailed to Laguna Beach California to get away from everything and jam on the beach. Their first gig together went much better than expected and Ryan asked Jonny to be a permanent member of the band. Since that time, a new CD, "Spill Your Doubt", with collaborative creative efforts between Ryan and Jonny, was digitally recorded and produced by Larry Elyea, lead guitarist of Bionic Jive, a Rap Metal group currently on tour with Eminem. "Spill Your Doubt" is a fan favorite on the Phoenix rock station 101.5FM-KZON "The Zone". The Zone is the #2 rated radio station in the Phoenix metro marketplace. In 2003, the band completed its foursome with bass guitarist Paul Williams, and drummer Rob Mannino. |
