Artist History
I started my first “Rock Band” when I was 8 with
me on piano, one friend on guitar, and another on
5-gallon bucket. I’ve been making music nonstop
ever since. There were years when I became so
frustrated (writers block) that I tried to put
music aside. Each time I have stopped making music
I have found myself disillusioned with life,
distant and remote. When I start making music
again the color seams to come back into my life.
For me making music is therapy, a way to express
the subconscious unease that I just can’t express
any other way. This is probably why the music that
I construct tends to be dark. I have learned that
dark does not necessarily equate to evil. In fact
I feel there can be great beauty and compassion
in dark. By the way… “this” refers to the
construct in the C++ programming language (I’m a
software engineer). Why did I choose this name for
my project? In C++ the “this” is an object's
pointer to self. All public member functions of an
object can be accessed using “this” and “this” can
be passed to other objects so that they can use
the public member functions. I liken the complex
object interactions within a C++ application to
complex interpersonal relationships we all must
experience. If you equate an object in C++ to a
person then I am a C++ object and music is the way
I share my “this” with you. |
