Artist History Sophus Lie is a musical project started back in 1996. To date the project has been a one man operation run by me...my name is Francisco Enrique Commans Jr....my friends call me Frankie. I chose the name Sophus Lie because it struck me as different...a name that stands out in a crowd...which is what I hope my music does...stand apart from other music...become something unique. In November of 1998 my first album was self-released. Titled "Paroxysm", it contained songs that had been written as early as 1992. There was no concept to the album...it was simply a conglomeration of songs...each one with it's own little story to tell. In April of 2000 I released my second album. The album has affectionately come to be known as "The Flags Of War". This album was my first attempt at a concept album. The concept...heartbreak...as told through the torments of war. World War II to be exact. Each song on the album has a specific image to go along with it which...as most images of war do...strikes a nerve in the listener that continues to vibrate as the music goes by...until the next image...and the next song. The other unusual aspect of this album is that I decided to tone things down a bit...two acoustic guitar parts and vocals is all that each song contains On September 16th, 2001 my production partner and I finished work on my third album..."A Dream Within A Dream". I have mostly just given copies of my albums to family and friends however, lately they have been pushing me to take my music more seriously...to "shove it out there and see who salutes it"...so I am making that effort now. I have posted the album in it's entirity here because the songs should not really be listened to as singles. There's a cohesiveness to the songs that cannot be achieved by listening to them one by one. I recommend downloading the MP3's and burning them to CD in order to get the flow of the entire album.
