Artist description In early 2001, DARK THEORY members TARON BENSON and VOODO FE MATHELIER developed an alternative hip hop project called PHOENIX AND THE SHADOW that uses the aggressive drum patterns of Jungle and the Caribbean undertones of Reggae to create what they describe as the TRIPPY STAR sound.

(1) Were booked on a 20 DATE EAST COAST COLLEGE TOUR which included opening dates for RUN-DMC, NAUGHTY BY NATURE and MESHELL N'DEGEOCELLO. (2) Received write-ups and reviews in a large variety of print and web magazines such as CMJ, VICE MAGAZINE, SISTER 2 SISTER, STEP-IN MAGAZINE, CANHEAD, THE RETRIEVER, THE BLU MAGAZINE AND THE NACA PROGRAMMING. (3) Recorded the lead song for “THE CHRIS CONCEPTS VIDEO SHOW. (4) Currently filming a documentary by SARAH HESTERMAN on up and coming Hip Hop Groups.
