Artist description Idara Umana known as Ill Skillz and rightfully so, is a street philosopher by spirit and poet by trade. She has been labeled of of the "illest poets in the city". Currenty residing in St. Louis, MO, she has performed and blessed the mic in many cities all over the United States at numerous schools, universities and venues.

Music Style Her style of poetry is a raw and uncut mixture of straight lyricism and her poetic version is sensuality. Ill Skillz represented her hometown St. Louis at the 2000 National Poetry Slam held in Providence, Rhode Island and the Slam America Tour of 2000. She has participated in various community organizations and school events, performing bothe for teens and young adults. Idara was a featured poet at the Mayoral Election Campaign for Freeman Bosley Jr. event and many other venues, like the Langston Hughts National Black Poetry Festival, and The Miles Davis 75the Birthday Jazz Festival. You can catch her regularly at the open mic at Legacy Books in St. Louis on Friday Nights.

Artist History Ill Skillz has opened for multiple national and international performers such as the legendary Gil Scott Heron and performed at the pre-show for the Okay Player Tour in St. Louis. Her other talents and interests are in hip hop, singing and acting. Her film credits include two independent fils entitles "Superbrotha" and "Jihad". Musically her credits include Project L.I./F.E. (a nonprofit CD for the Missouri Chapter of the Lupus Foundation), The fortress: The Lyrical Bistro Volume One, the Chill Factor and BGYRL4LIFE! - The b-gyrl compilation. Her upcoming CD entitled "Tha Locs" was released in July 2001. "I feel that poetry is my ultimate form of self expression. When you are able to be true to your emothioons in its rawest form, makes you take you mindstate to another level".
