Artist History My oldest brother was spinning at the local roller rink in the late 80's, a place I used to frequent. I wasn't really there to see him play, but I ended up being interested in what he was up to in the booth. I would drop by once in a while to say hi and hang out. He was a very cool cat, and he would show me what he was doing in there, as I had no idea. In fact, he exposed me to songs such as Prince's Erotic City, L'N'R's Work It To The Bone, 'Lil Louis's French Kiss, S'Express, Last Night a DJ Saved My Life, Todd Terry's Can You Party, and the list goes on. I can't believe what he turned me on to when I look back. He didn't mix the same way most DJ's do now, he would do short mixes and slams mostly, but he did occasionally ride a mix. He was playing at other places besides the rink, like clubs and wedding receptions. He would bring equipment home sometimes, and he would set it all up and let me play. The first time I played on 1200's, he set me up in his basement and left for the day. I think I was 14 years old. I made a tape, which would be pretty funny to hear now. He ended up quitting the mobile and club DJ thing, and passed on his record collection to me. I haven't stopped buying records since.
