Artist History The order of the primates is a relatively small order. Most of it's species live in (sub) tropical forests. Their common features include large close set eyes, reduced smell, large brains and grasping hands. These features are called primitive, almost all primates have them meaning they were probably present in our last common ancestor, as opposed to advanced features which evolved later on. Humans have evolved a lot of advanced features where as lemurs and tarsiers for instance are still relatively primitive. The most primitive primates give us a good idea what the last common ancestor of all living primates looked like. fi
