Artist description
With their passion, energy and dedication to original music at the forefront, CARV has introduced a new brand of rock that has forced record labels' eyes (and ears) open only six months after their inception. The band has successfully produced an album that is mature and unique, a rare feat given that five of the six band members are under the age of twenty-two. In an age where clones and one-hit wonders fill CD bins and radio waves, CARV refreshes and stimulates. |

Artist History
Formerly known as Mantra, CARV swept through the Massachusetts music scene last year in a blur. In March 2000, the band was booked to play the main stage at the Locobazooka! 2000 festival after the promoter heard their demo single "No Exit". In only their second show, they opened for national acts Disturbed, Dope, P.O.D., and Days of the New. The sponsor of the event, radio station WAAF labeled CARV "the local band to watch". The band signed a recording contract with XOFF Records and quickly completed a 6-song EP entitled "Anesthetic" at New England's legendary Longview Farms Recording Studio (Creed, Sevendust, Staind) with Boston Music Award-nominated producer Scott Riebling (Letters to Cleo, American Hi-Fi). The band also signed a management deal with industry legend Dan Beck (Epic Records, V2). To complete the circle, CARV hit the main stage again at Locobazooka! 2001, the only local act to have a 30 minute set, opening for The Henry Rollins Band, Biohazard, and Reveille. |

Group Members
Eighteen-year old guitarist/vocalist Ben Goodman's heavy riffs and technical prowess combined with lead guitarist Joe Molinari's innovative and classical guitar technique leave both the teenage metal fan and the seasoned classical rock listener in mutual awe. Drummer Jon Acorn's energy and attention to detail combines the intensity and power of death metal with the precision of off-time mechanics. Trading vocal duties with Goodman is nineteen-year old Matt Raymond, whose vocal intensity is only surpassed by his manic stage dives during performances. Combining melody with distortion, Goodman and Raymond take pride in the fact that they produce something absent in much of today's rock scene - lyrics that are infectious and meaningful. Ben Schulkin expertly reintroduces the keyboard into the hard rock genre, creating sounds and ambience not yet experienced by the majority of todays rock fans. Bassist Darren Brown drives the music with his powerful bass lines and creative riffs.
