Artist description Through a unique blend of hip-hop, nu-soul, and alternative rock, Perfect Truth's mission is to promote love, peace and knowledge through music. Perfect Truth consists of three talented and accomplished musicians with very diverse backgrounds; Tim Owens, Herman Johnson and Preston Middleton. "We call our sound 'Nu Soul' says group founder Preston Middleton. Our diverse backgrounds, (Hip Hop-Rap, R& B, Alternative Rock, and Gospel) allow us a broad pathway to create music for the universal soul of humanity. We truly want to be innovators in presenting music with a positive message. We really want to touch the world through our music." Armor of Light is Perfect Truth's debut album on the Amorlight Soundworks label. "We want to give our "friends", (not fans) uplifting messages that counteract the negative experiences of daily life," says Tim Owens, lead singer and writer. We can no longer tolerate positive messages being supressed while some embrace negative and destructive views of life that lead to disaster. We've got to be part of bringing the spirit back." Perfect Truth will remind listeners of a time when artists had a conscience and wrote about the world in which they lived with its good and bad, challenges and dreams. Herm "Maestro" Johnson, the youngest member of the group is Perfect Truth's young prodigy having mastered several instruments before he turned 17. Herm is proficient in keyboards and drums. "Maestro" as he is called by the group is a student at the famed Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. A member of the newly formed production team, The Professionals, Herm also has several projects in the works on major labels due our in 2002. His musical influences include R&B, Soul and a background in Gospel. Tim Owens, presently lead back-up with the Grammy award winning duo K-Ci and Jo-Jo (All My Life) and former Atlantic recording artist, comes from a jazz, gospel and R&B background. While still a freshman at Berklee College of Music, Tim was signed to a recording contract by the legendary Sylvia Rhone, then president of Atlantic Records. He has recorded and worked with artists such as Michael Jackson, Earth Wind & Fire, Lala Hathaway, K-Ci & Jo-Jo, and Diane Warren to name a few. Preston Middleton, founding member of Perfect Truth also has a diverse background. Muscially, Middleton draws from experience in Hip-Hop, R & B, Rap and also Alternative Rock. A graduate of the prestigious Morehouse College in Atlanta, Preston quickly moved to New York after signing a recording contract with the Sound of New York label where he released several dance singles. Preston took a hiatus from the music industry to attend Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, but soon returned to the entertainment industry recording and producing for radio, television and film projects. A former member of famed producer Teddy Riley's production team in the early 90's, Preston played on and produced several gold and platinum releases. Preston's collaborations include Boy George's "You Found Another Guy" and artists like Pieces of a Dream, Scarface, the Ghetto Boys, Wrecks N' Effect, Redhead Kingpen, Destiny's Child, Dequina and movie soundtracks for "Friday", "South Central" & "Rhyme or Reason" to name a few.
