Artist History
One listen to My Own Victim and you will hear a formidable maturity in this 20-something, Kentucky metal band. My Own Victim’s strong street level, hardcore metal assault with classic heavy/bluesy power chords and lead fretwork weaves an intricate web around their sincere vocals and ‘never give up’ lyrics.
Witness a show and you will join the ranks of the converted after experiencing their talent for turning out head crushing mayhem. My Own Victim, a hungry small city phenomenon, features David “Sailor” Bryant (vocals), Jeff Toy and Brian Omer (guitars), Todd Conn (bass), and Danny Murphy (drums).
My Own Victim has steadily built their career, laying the foundation for metal domination. Signed to an indie three months after the release of their first album in 1994 My Own Victim built a large European following, and released three albums to excellent reviews in magazines including Kerrang!, Aardschok, Hit Parader, and Terrorizer. Their second album, No Voice, No Rights, No Freedom, was heralded as a potential breakout.
My Own Victim’s successes in Europe (especially with the press) include a 55-date stint with New York’s Biohazard and the open-air festival, Rhineculture with 35,000 attendees. A 30-date headlining East Coast tour began their assault on the states. Too young and inexperienced to capitalize on opportunities, and unable to afford a business team, My Own Victim asked to be released from Century Media to pursue stronger support in ’99. The band regrouped keeping its heart and soul, the three founding members; Jeff Toy, Brian Omer and Todd Conn.
My Own Victim went on to achieve the impossible- it retained its entire loyal fan base and added more, after parting ways with long-time front man Vic Hillerich. David “Sailor” Bryant joined in ’99 to become a working class hero playing in front of monster crowds, with Europe clamoring for their return. The addition of Danny Murphy (drums) completes the strength of the total package.
The band debuted their self-released album at the end of 2000 entitled DEADLY to rave reviews from magazines and fans across the world including kerrang!. A recent studio session gave birth to the number one most requested song on WTFX’s Louisville Rocks program, “Cheap Thrills, Bottles & Pills”. “No Retreat, No Surrender”, as yet unrecorded, is the most requested song at their live shows.
My Own Victim recently joined forces with e/go Management to support the incredible momentum behind Louisville’s reigning kings of heavy. The band looks forward to receiving more recognition in the U.S. and are primed to capitalize on metal’s resurgence with a team that is unstoppable. Prepare yourself, this is real
