Artist History
Singer/songwriter/guitarist Geoffrey Welchman's infectious blend of funky and bluesy acoustic music hearkens back to some of his first influences: the Beatles, Sly and the Family Stone, and Joan Armatrading. His first professional performance was at Greenwich Village's Folk City. In rock bands and as a solo act he performed at many New York City clubs, including CBGBs, Café Siné, and the Village Vanguard, throughout the early 90s. His resume also includes music for television and reviews and interviews for such magazines as RayGun, The New Yorker, Interview, and Rolling Stone. After living in Bay Area California and returning to solo performance, he settled in Baltimore in 2001 and recorded his first solo album, "Comfort Noise." |
