Artist History
Eric got his first guitar when he was 10 years old and influenced by players like Joe Satriani, Eddie Van Halen and Jeff Beck, he started to work hard on his playing.
Soon he had developed his “chops” enough to start playing in local bands. He also started teaching at this early age.
At age 16 he was recognized as a force to be reckoned with in the local scene of his home area.
At age 18, Eric decided to attend the Musicians Institute. There, he studied with instructors like Brett Garsed, Scott Henderson and Dan Gilbert.
When he got back to Germany, he continued teaching and playing with bands from different styles of music.
That way, he had soon established a reputation as a very versatile player.
In 1998, Eric moved back to the US. He lived in Atlanta / GA for two years. There. he continued to work on his music while playing in different bands.
He then moved on to the New Jersey-
area and stayed busy there, playing, recording, writing instructional material.
While in the US, he also performed several guitar workshops and played a short tour with a major label artist
After his return to Germany in 2000, Eric concentrated on the instrumental songs he had been working on in the past. Those will be recorded and released in 2002 on Erics instrumental debut.
Many people compared his style and tone to players like Eric Johnson, Dann Huff and Joe Satriani.
Besides teaching and writing instrumental material, Eric is also recording songs with great singer / songwriter Wolfgang Malende.
Some of these songs have been written by Eric himself, and all of them show a new facet of him as a guitarist:
He is not a mere “shredder” anymore, but developed into a versatile player with a unique style.
Right now, besides working on Malendes and his own music, Eric is available for “hired gun”-jobs
( such as live- and studio-performances ), and he still teaches in the area of Bielefeld.
Stay tuned for “Lonely Rider” ( the upcoming release by Wolfgang Malende in late 2001 ) and “Talking Hands” ( Erics debut, supposed to be released in 2002 )...
