    Artist History
Dave Isaacs is a versatile artist with a commanding presence and an eclectic style, blending a hook-laden pop sensibility with vivid lyrical storytelling and a dynamic sense of rhythm. As founder and leader of the acclaimed country-rock band Jackalope Junction he has performed on stages up and down the East Coast, and shared billing with such diverse artists as Martina McBride, Steve Miller, Rhonda Vincent, .38 Special, George Thorogood, Commander Cody, Leo Kottke, Chris Hillman & Herb Pedersen, and the Flatlanders. Just Drive, Jackalope Junction's most recent recording, earned adds on over 75 radio stations across the US and spent nearly four months in rotation on Nashville's flagship Americana station WYYB/The Phoenix. Music Row Magazine's Americana critic Robert K. Oermann called the title single "promising....nicely written and performed with heart" and the song was also selected out of thousands of entries to online musicians' community Tonos.com for a pitch to renowned producer Byron Gallimore. Isaacs' work has also been featured on several compilations, including the 2001 World Trade Center disaster relief fundraiser The World Will Remember, featured on the soundtrack to filmmaker Michael Lee Barlin's award-winning independent release The Pig Farm, and earned an honorable mention in the Just Plain Folks songwriting awards. A trained classical guitarist, he was twice awarded the Rose Augustine prize while a student at the Manhattan School Of Music, and was invited to perform a solo guitar recital at New York City landmark Riverside Church as well as in master classes for world-renowned guitarists like the Juilliard School's Sharon Isbin, Segovia protege Oscar Ghiglia, and renowned lutenist Paul O'Dette. In 1999 Isaacs participated in the formation of the Long Island Music Coalition and currently remains an active member of the board of directors, organizing and overseeing projects from benefit concerts to CD compilations promoting the local original music scene. He organized and coordinated the Long Island, NY branch of the 1999 Kosovo Relief Festival, a nationwide grassroots effort that held simultaneous benefit concerts in over 30 cities to raise funds for the American Red Cross' refugee relief efforts in the former Yugoslavia. Currently Dave continues to perform with Jackalope Junction, alone as an solo artist, as lead guitarist and vocalist with roots-rock band muzzlespeed, and as a freelance musician for hire. A respected music educator, he maintains a busy private teaching practice and is also presently at work on his first solo CD, due in March 2003.
