Press Reviews The Cottage Country Artists' Collective presents a refreshing approach to music, made intriguing by the mysterious nature of the group and their past experience in performance art and music. Their latest album, (o n e), is a collaboration of manipulated samples from various musical genres, audio samples from Cottage Country members themselves, harmonious discord and ambient overtones. The album draws from country, hip-hop, soul, jazz and nature, resulting in a unique blend of sounds. In several pieces one can easily become engaged in the music, drawn in by the pull of the strings, held by the soft and subtle recitation of poetry, and led out by a gently exhaling breath, in time with the listener's own. In other pieces one automatically keeps time with a deceptively simple hip-hop beat, and still in others, the timelessness of country is captured with an eerie yet comforting familiarity. The collage created by these sounds is, simply put, art. But this seems the guiding principle of Cottage Country - that art is everywhere around us. It is not simply found in traditional forms of painting and sculpture but in the music that exists, in the music we create and especially in its most unadulterated form, nature. The music is arranged in such a way that it is not simply an audio experience, but a visual one as well. As each piece has the power to conjure mental images, the Sound Programme is personal to each listener. Every sound and blend and whisper connects with each listener personally, making it, in the end, an intimate listening gallery. The Cottage Country Sound Programme's unique sound and style defy conventional categorisation, thus establishing a genre of their own. That cute little bear in the corner may return yet...

Additional Info The Cottage Country Sound Programme is currently finishing up work on their follow-up release. This one should be ready early in the new year.
