Artist description
Billy Rhythm is regarded by many to be one of the most prolific unsigned artists on the coast of British Columbia today. While more and more musicians everyday are utilizing digital sound techniques to manifest their craft, Billy continues to flourish in the lost art of analog recording.
Only in the mastering process does a digital translation of the unrefined magnetic tape mixes occur with minimal processing. In addition to the production, engineering, and writing of his songs, he also performs virtually all the instrumental and vocal tracks himself. The results are adventurous indeed, reflecting upon his broad spectrum of musical influences. |

Artist History
Billy Rhythm began his musical career at the age of 12 playing the drums before learning guitar and whatever else he could get his hands on in his subsequent teenage years.
In the summer of 1987, Billy Rhythm alongside singer/songwriter Troy Falk (currently of "Relatives UK") founded the group "Boneyard" (later known as "Rocketrip") that would also feature creative funk drummer Amrit Basi (of "Inject" fame). The band, through various incarnations, rocked the Victoria area and recorded many classic songs before disbanding in the late 1990's.
After a few years in Vancouver, Billy Rhythm relocated to the cozy creative confines of Quadra Island in 1999 to reconnect with his roots. His first solo CD project "Organic" appeared in the fall of 2000 before the excellent "Swirl" disc followed only six months later. The latest most ambitious release, the "Reel Live Acetate" double disc, breaks new ground while showcasing an emerging Billy Rhythm sound.
It's hard to define the genre of Billy's work. The Rock'n'Roll roots are evident in places as well as just about anything else from blues to avantgarde-all with a pop sensibility!
As for what's in store for the future? Just kick back 'cause you never really have to wait very long for a new Billy Rhythm recording. |
