Artist description
The Tom McElman Band is a tasteful blend of Rock, Blues, Funk and Jazz. Tom McElman states, "The one piece of criteria that every song must have is a groove. After that, we see what happens." Every song in the band's arsenal is quite different from the next but sticks to a very unique sound. |

Artist History
Tom McElman, raised in the Boston area, and relocated to the greater Cincinnati area in 1995 met Sean Moore through a mutual friend. The two then began to search for a Bass player and found Jeff Allen. Sean actually played with Jeff in another band but that band moved to Boston (confusing story). The trio never really intended to do anything more than just jam together on Saturday afternoons but could not deny that the ideas that were coming to life needed to be heard by the general (and not so general) public. A studio was built in Sean's basement and the group has been at work ever since. Each member brings a seperate influence to the table. Tom has played in several hard rock bands in the past 15 years, Sean has played in more Rock and Blues bands than he cares to mention and Karl, with roots in Blue Grass and Rock, listens to and is influenced by anything and everything that crosses his path (except maybe the more fluffy stuff). With the departure of Jeff Allen, who has moved on to a more fruitful and meaningful existence, Karl Weghorn comes to the band with a fresh approach and a "willing to learn" attitude. I've never seen anyone actually groove on a Mandolin before. Oh the journey that lays ahead.................

Press Reviews
Each player is great. Drums and Bass have a great feel together and theres a maturity thats refreshing. The same goes for the guitarist whose textural guitar parts are interesting and strong. Jeff Beck eat your heart out! - Make A Star.com |
