Artist description
GULCH is back. The Kansas bruisers GULCH have returned with the new album Enemy Of Me. A brand new eight song collection of loud and abrasive (yet melodic) heaviness. Enemy Of Me is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed 1999 release When It Rains…It Pours. Enemy Of Me was recorded and mixed in a tightly scheduled (and even tighter budgeted) 3 days at Red House Recording in Eudora Kansas. With a reputation of playing “anywhere/anytime/with anybody” GULCH plan to promote Enemy Of Me with the same vigor, enthusiasm and highly visual stage show that has always managed to grab attention.
In addition to 1999’s When It Rains…It Pours, GULCH members Dean and Duane Book were half of HOSTILITY( who released Brick on Century Media in 1995). After receiving favorable press from such notables as Metal Maniacs, Ill Literature and others, GULCH are setting out to show the rest of the world what these publications have already found out… GULCH ARE SERIOUS ABOUT MAKING IT! GULCH have had the honor of playing with the likes of Soulfly, Sevendust, Clutch, Crowbar,Pissing Razors,Napalm Death, Acid Bath, The Nixons, Life Of Agony, Kyuss, Machine Head, Fear Factory, Obituary, Nuclear Assault, Cathedral, Trouble, The Mentors and many others.

GULCH - Enemy of Me
(www.Gulchworks.com)
Greasy, blue collar, rusty, loud, gritty and smokey...blasting through pavement. Gulch is sticky, muscular mix of Motopsycho, Motorhead and Black Sabbath with a vague Midwestern bent. This, their sophomore effort, is more focussed and seems to define their sound more than their debut. The bluesy crunch of "I Am" is propelled as much by the guitar fury as much as the gutteral cries of vocalist/guitarist Dean Book. "Quarters" is a stomper, meshing Jackyl like strut and Sabbath enormity/ Maybe a COC in there too. Yes, for sure. A fun, totally spontaneous cover of Fastway's "Say What You Will" is beefed up to fit the band's overall package and also helps solidify their connection with the oldschool. "Bed of Roses" is a monster schorcher and perhaps the defining moment of the album. Drama meets skyward crunch and killer groove. This is why we love rock 'n' roll folks! Wisely keeping things tight, the band takes the 8 song set approach, preferring to keep all impressions on the high road instead of diluting us with filler. Let's hope album number 3 hits us between the eyes sooner than later. - Brian Coles
