Artist History
At a chance meeting at THE STUDIO in New York City in the Fall of 2000, guitarist and lead singer, Ray Schiel and bassist Lou Cone stepped into the same jam session to enjoy an evenings worth of rock and roll.
By the end of the evening, Ray had introduced several songs he had been working on. A friendship began but it wasn't until 6 months later, in the Spring of 2001, until songs were fleshed out and a return call to Lou was necessary.
They returned to THE STUDIO to work on the songs when they heard drummer, Joe Labash, in a neighboring rehearsal room. Needing a drummer to work on the music, Ray asked Joe if he would be interested in trying out some new material and from there
the three continued to work.
The first official Dirty Side Down gig happened on June 1,2001 at The Bitter End in New York City.
Little did they know that future DSD guitarist Hugh Scully was in the audience that night.
Hugh had been good friends with Lou and inquired about the music. DSD had been looking for a lead guitarist all along and invited Hugh to come to rehearsal
and play along. From there, the four continued.......... |
