The traditional eight beat figures are passed on from teacher to pupil together with the sung, ancient Indian patterns of rhythm. Each sung syllabil explains exactly what has to be played with which hand and which finger on both Tabla drums. This way every pupil learns from his master. WORLD DRUM TRIO TABLA CONGA DJEMBÉ Percussion instruments, which stand for three musical sound cultures which are far apart from each other. With down to earth grooves, full basses and cracking slaps the DJEMBÉ, probably the best known West African percussion instrument, reminds one of the Black Continent, dance, earth, fertility, trance......... When hands beat and roll the CONGAS and impressive pictures are created of colourful costumes, never ending carnival, naked, sweating skin, Latin America with Samba, Salsa and a lot of fun. We meet the melodious sounds of an ancient culture with the Indian TABLA. The dynamic sounds of the bass drum correspond with the singsong of the high tabla drums; this way they create their own characteristic elegance. The whiffs of rice fields and incense sticks comes our way............. The WORLD DRUM TRIO conglomerates these traditional instruments and rhythms for a new exciting sound. It is an excursion into the world of making music in a multicultural way. Everything keeps its identity although creates in combination with the other instruments something never heard before, completely new.
