Artist History
The TR Project is a studio project that began in 1991 from a call for projects in the music trade from Michael Morrick, President of the New Adult Contemporary Network, looking for something different from the Kenny G style soprano saxophone that had become so popular. Doyle Wood learned of the call for projects through his industry contacts via his recording studio, Daxwood Production Company. Doyle and I had worked together for twenty years in bands and in the studio, but this was our first solo jazz project. Michael Morrick listened to our demo and told us he really liked it--we thought we had a record deal! For reasons we'll never really know, the deal never came. The music was never heard, until now. In July 1999, the CD was released on mp3. During its first month, "Loving You Is The Best Thing" made it into the top ten and was mp3's featured smooth jazz song for more than a week. The project was finally finished, as no musician can fully express his art until his music is heard. Thank you for listening! |
