Artist description
PWF (plasticwoodenfruit) is a unique and exciting Australian band, with a new sound that defies categorization. They've been described as breakbeat, jungle, drum & bass...with a dash of jazz, funk and techno.PWF was formed in early '98 by Brett Evans (Sax) and Jeff van Dyck (Keys). In '99 they met James Vincent (Turntables) and the current sound of PWF was formed. PWF won the Triple J Unearthed contest in Brisbane, Australia in1999 with their song "2 Bloody Sense". At the time, they only had 3 songs, so their main focus became writing an album. Now, a year later, their debut album "FULL" has been released. On MP3.com (US site) PWF rose to #1 in the funk charts earlier this year with their song "Dr. Sloop". On MP3.com.au (Australian site) PWF has hit #1 in the breakbeat artist charts and their song "2 Bloody Sense" has reached #1 in the jungle/drum&bass charts.Currently PWF is rehearsing their live show, planning a tour, and seeking a record deal. "FULL" is being distributed to record stores in Australia by MGM Distribution and is also available for online purchase through ChaosMusic at www.chaosmusic.com |

Press Reviews
Courier Mail (Brisbane, Australia) Friday March 24,2000by Noel Mengel...It burbles along on a bed of throbbing beats and lurching rhythms, with elements of drum & bass colliding with honking saxes, scratching turntables and acrossfire of dialogue samples. it's so unusual that it makes you laugh out loud. |
