Artist History
*Little LuAnn Biography*It all started one day back in early 1998 in Seattle. The sun crested at the center of the land and the entire Earth rotated. It was an eventful evening. All the passion pooled into one glowing ember. As he looked to the vacant drum set that he had built out of old parts and collateral from past drummers and sales, Corey Pfaff wrote a song called Drummer in a warehouse outside of Queen Anne Hill. It was a fabulous song. In time, it would gravitate many fine musicians to the cause of making a new Rock and Roll. It started out by getting the attention of Aaron Mannino, Corey's only friend in this new city. Aaron was a prodigy. He played modern rock. Aaron played bass, drums and sang harmony for Corey's project to record a demo. Now Corey was on his way to finding the right musicians for the mission.*Rogue Members Found * From an ad placed in Seattle's Stranger, Corey received a call from "Five", a local drummer. Five had the chops of a machine in dynamic propulsion. He was a mathematical genius in percussion. Five was destined to be the first entry into Little LuAnn. Then came Ffej from Evergreen College, an analog synth player. Corey met Ffej in a smoky club on open mike night and remembers being strangely surprised by what he heard. Ffej listened to the demo and then played with Five and Corey at the warehouse. The next member of the group aligned into orbit. Now if only they had a bass player, the search would be over…. the galaxy complete. Then as if destiny had come knocking down the door, the 4th of July exploded and a band called 1 FM dismembered. Corey had been doing a side project with them and knew the band's bass player, Ronnie Field. His love of music and his musical style were stellar. From this fusion was born the new Rock band of this Millenium: Little LuAnn. *Little LuAnn Accomplishments * In the summer of 1999 Little LuAnn released their debut cassette, Cotton Robot, under Recurving Records with help from their friend Matthew Parker of the band Peter Parker. Matthew has helped out along the way to move Little LuAnn on to bigger and better things. Completing their discography-to-date, Little LuAnn has put out a 7 " record called Ghost on their own label, Angry Robot Records (Jan. 2000). Little LuAnn continues to work hard on new songs. They have over 20 songs to choose from to compose the perfect set for any venue. Their first "full length" album will be recorded sometime early this year in Olympia, WA. Today, Little LuAnn practices 5 days a week in that very same room where it all began just 2 years prior. They play many shows throughout Seattle and beyond. Their sounds have radiated through clubs like the Crocodile Café, Gibsons, Re Bar, OK Hotel, and various out-of-town venues. Playing live is great. After all, what can be better than a great show? |

Press Reviews
...The perfect rock band of the new millennium would be made up of a guitar, a bass, a drummer and someone who plays one analog synth. And LITTLE LUANN has jumped the gun on this race. Imagine early R.E.M.if they had a fifth member who was an electrical engineer major in college and played synth. Entirely listenable and fresh songs with cool gimmicks to back them up.The Rocket #311 (Oct, 6-20, 1999) page 30 As much fun as a ride in a space ship. Little Luann -- who will reveal that their origins are unearthly, but provide precious few other details -- blast off with what they dub "alien Power Pop." This otherworldly music is not unlike our more familiar Noise Pop and Space Rock. In fact, aside from the phaser tweakings, underwater gurglings, and unidentifiable white noise that swirl and circle through their songs, their cosmic rock should sound quite familiar to their earthling listeners. Droning guitar noise, reverb soaked echoes that burst into shimmery chords, and vaguely Wayne Coyne-esque (Flaming Lips) vocals (with lyrics in their second language, English) bridge the light years that compose our apparently superficial planetary differences.Review from listen.com |
