Artist History
"I like to think of myself as the *anti-folksinger's folk singer," say's
songsmith Ken Ledbetter. Hailing from Greenville, SC, Ken's music blends
both the southern narrative and the train of thought surreal. His acoustic
show would
be quite at home with a Matthew Sweet or a Tom Petty.
With a scheduled release of his first solo CD due out in Fall 2001, Ken is
taking his Rock-n-Roll folk acoustic show on the road to promote a new
collection of songs. He will be visiting various cities in the southeast
presenting this CD with local radio, record stores and printed media
promotion.
At age 17 as a freshman in college, Ken started writing songs and soon
found local support from local musicians and fans alike. While in school,
Ken's music
was featured while playing in a local band and enjoying the honor of having
his music performed by a campus musical production. In 1991, Ken moved to
Atlanta Ga. to further hone his songwriting skills while playing in several
bands including Local Color and Woodlore. A moved to Columbia SC in 1995
had Ken
fronting a new band, Flatland 2 Step.
Now living in upstate South Carolina, Ken is completing his first CD
recording
in his home studio and plans to release this disc on his own label, ID10T
Records. "I want people to hear my music and realize that an acoustic
artist doesn't have to be about hugging tree's or saving the planet, but
can
be fun? and most importantly it can rock".
An anti-folksinger's folk singer indeed.
