The band was conceived in Olympia, Wa. 1996 by rhythm guitarist Paul Mauer and vocalist/lyricist Bejay Thompson. Josette's Eye's music features Miss Thompson's classically trained voice and poetic, personal lyrics, Mr. Mauer's unique, tone filled guitar and an overall primal, earth feel from the rest of the band.

    Artist History
josette's eye started in 1996 with bejay thompson(lead vocals) and paul mauer(guitar) coming together to make poetic ambient art rock. the first three cds where recorded with backup musicians: pat mehan(drums), nathan ranken(bass), mark benson(fretless bass), andy marzano(guitar), and mark mauer(guitar). after their 3rd album "alibi clock" the back up musicians and thompson & mauer had different views. thompson and mauer continued to play live and write, then in feb. of 1999 they met dave filburn(drums/programming). then in the next several months: esther mathinson(vocals/clarinet), and jean-paul mayden(bass) both long time friends, joined the ranks of josette's eye, to make the band you see now. we are currently working on the next album which unlike the others...is a full on band effort to make something beautiful! for more info, ect goto: josette's eye |home. thanks. peace~love. Press Reviews
"Josette's Eye's sound combines signer Bejay Thompson's freeform lyrics and poetry with the band's improv garage rock style in unique fashion. Alibi Clock flows from engaging rootsy modern rock jams to emotional poetic readings where you can imagine Thompson's cathartic venting streaming out of control into regions you didn't know existed." - Bryan Baker @ Gajoob.com------------"Based around Bejay Thompson's voice and Paul Mauer's guitar, Olympia, Washington's Josette's Eye take an ambient approach to rock 'n' roll with their dark, shadowy sound that is sometimes progressive and sometimes drawn out, but always mystical. The music often resembles that of Seattle's Sky Cries Mary with a more rock 'n' roll feel to it." - Alex Steininger @ In Music We Trust.com
